Day 18

Today was an awesome day! I finally finished my weebly and I am so proud of my work. As I look back on everything, I have learned a lot that I will use  and share with other teachers.  This has been a great educational experience for me. Mrs. Latham gave awards today and I received the "I Can Do It" award, which was  too funny! She really is a sweet person and her light truly shines. Dr. Bracey is of course awesome! I really admire what she is implementing here in ISWD. and it shows how she truly love to help others.  She is very knowledgeable in her expertise and I appreciate her input. She gave out some more gifts today, that we can use in our classrooms.  Gaeti 2016 had awesome participants and an awesome facilitator "Dr. Bracey".

Day18

Today was very busy! I am getting a little sad, because we only have a few days left. I have learned so many tools that I will use in my classroom with Dr. Lee.  The pikotochart was my favorite thing I created today. Time is ticking so tomorrow I will have to get busy on my lesson plan.  There is so little time but a lot to do!

Day 17

Today was another good day! Stephanie from the library can by this morning to do a Prezi presentation. She showed us ways we could incorporate a Prezi in our classrooms. Dr. Lee provided us with several apps we can use on our Ipads in the classroom. I love the assignment of creating a newsletter with others using Google Docs.

Day 16

Hello Monday!
 This is the final week of Gaeti and there is still a lot that I need to get done for my weebly. We learned how to create a Web Quest today and how to use Canvas as a teacher in our classroom. Also we went over time for the Flat Stanley project due to computer problems,  we finally finished it today.  I ran out of time to start placing things on my weebly, so tomorrow will be a busy day!

Day 15

Today was a great day! Dr. Lee introduced us to canvas and how to make a movie in ppt and put it on YouTube. I put the glass on my art project and it looks great! Looking forward to finishing next week.

Day 14

Today was great! We started the process of learning about Canvas with Dr. Lee this morning. I finally finished the big piece of my art project. I just love Mrs. Latham she  is so awesome!! Most importantly today was payday!

Day 13

Today is "Hump" day, we learned some good information from Nashundra James from Madison School District about 1:1. We had a discussion on the pros and cons of having 1:1. We are currently working on a Flat Stanley video project, which is very cool. I can't wait to see everyone's video tomorrow.

Day 12

Today has been an awesome day! Dr. Huang is just a great teacher. She has taught us so many things. I have used the Understanding by Design lesson plan in the past, but the way she went over it to was more simpler.

 I tied for first place with Mrs., Brinker  for the mini lesson plan activity. I was so excited about that,, I won some really cool red Chinese shoes. Dr. Huang brought to class some candy from China, I had a grape piece which was really good. Dr. Huang has definitely been one of my favorites during Gatei.  We had a blast again in Art class of course, I finally got my images cut out. We love to make Mrs. Latham laugh, she loves when we come in there even when it's not our time.  When school starts back, I think I will use the plickers in my classroom for reviewing and checking for understanding with my students.

Day 11

Today was awesome!! I loved the presentation today from MDOT outreach program. I participated in some fun activities that I will be using in my class! Dr. Haung taught us a lot about China. She is a great story teller and teacher. I'm am looking forward to the rest of this week.

Day 10

Today is Friday!!! I have had a blast this week!! Today I've learned so much information that I need for starting a business. We had the assistant Secretary of State to explain and show us some good information. This afternoon we had an overview of  starting a business plan and recieved some great books to use as resources.

Day 8

Today was another fun day. We visited Hilbun hall and got a chance to be a meteorologist. We had a blast over there! It was very interesting to see all what is behind doing the weather. We finished  doing our watercolors  for projects. I am so worried about the end of my art project, right now it is not pretty!  I also enjoyed the presentation about Native Americans.

Day 7

Today was really fun! We went to the Mitchell library for a PowerPoint 2013 workshop. I learned some new features that I didn't know that I could use. Also the presenter gave us a web link that we can use to look up other topics in different programs, we may want information on. We also visited the TK Martin center were we learned  about and saw  different types of assitive technology that is available for special needs students. We started our watercraft art project today and I'm so excited about going to Mrs. Latham's class everyday to finish my project. Looking forward to tomorrow!

Day 6

Today was a great day.  We set up our weebly and found some cool game sites that students can use. I am very excited to be working with Mrs. Latham creating my art project, this is going to be a cool and interesting week.

Day 5

Today was another awesome day! We did another trip to the library where we learned about and saw some important history documents. We visited several departments at the library that educators can use to review and check out items to use in the classroom. I am excited about the Gaeti lesson plan document  that we will be using. This has been a great week.

Day 4

Today was an awesome day! We took a field trip to a local coal mining plant. The presentation was very informative and interesting. They took us on a tour of the facility and we got to see operations in action using very large equipment. I plan to visit with my students.

Day 3

Today was an exciting and interesting day. We went back to the library for a training workshop on Google Maps and Google Earth. The workshop was fun and interesting. One of my favorite activities of the day was the Mining activity with the chocolate chip cookies. Dr. B also did a great job with her presentations. I can't wait until tomorrow for the field trip.

Day 2

Today was a very long day. I learned a lot about geography and how to incorporate it into my lessons. We also took another tour to the library and visited the Templeton Museum and Grant Library. We learned a lot of interesting facts while touring this two places.


Ms. Massey from MDE dropped by to explain some new and improving changes to the MS College and Career Readiness Standards, which I am excited about as an educator and parent.

Day 1: Start up Session

Today was a very interesting and busy day. We got a chance to meet the different staff members from the ISWD, whom we will be working with during our month at the Gaeti Workshop. We also took a tour of the campus to learn a little more about it's history and places that we can go during our hour break.


I knew that Gaeti was a professional development opportunity, but didn't really know what it would consist of. Dr. Bracey gave an overview of what we would be doing. I am excited to know that I will be working with other teachers from different subject areas on various projects, all while incorporating new technologies.  I also met 4 other teachers from my school district that I have never met before and look forward to working with them here.


We took a tour to the library and learned about  a great resource Magnolia that I plan to use in my classroom. I am looking forward to learning new technologies and creative ways to improve my students' learning in the classroom.
